Consultation on light- and sun protection

Increased UV exposure from the sun or solarium leads to premature aging of the skin, e.g. an increase in wrinkling or the development of 'age spots' and other pigment abnormalities. Also, as a consequence, malignant skin changes can develop, even skin cancer. may lead to malignant forms of skin cancer. After surgical or laser surgical procedures, as well as chemical peeling, adequate sun  protection is extremely important.

Light- and sun protection – the consultation

During our consultation, the following particular points will be taken into account:

  • Individual skin colour type and individual UV save exposure times.
  • Individual skin type and compatibility with sun protection products with the appropriate cosmetic advice. The possible development of allergic reactions and ‘sun allergy’ will also be considered.
  • Special sensitivity to light within specific age groups (newborns and children/pregnancy/senior citizens)

Light- and sun protection – How can I protect against skin cancer?

Along with good sun protection, which we discuss with you in our individual and detailed consultation, also an individual skin cancer screening of your whole body is necessary (including microscopic examination), to recognise skin cancer in time. In this way we can also recognise and treat the so called ‘light’ skin cancer (basel cell carcinoma and spinaliom) as well as the more well known ‘black’ skin cancer (melanoma) and its precursors (e.g. actinic keratosis, dysplastic nevus). If you wish, suspicious skin changes can be monitored for you through photographic documentation.

Light- and sun protection – How does the treatment work?

For the individual person, depending on the skin type and analyses from the consultation, a therapy plan is developed, which may include individually differing conservative components and, if necessary, also surgical and laser-surgical components.

Suspicious pigment spots can be graded according to the ‘ABCDE-rule’.

  • A – Asymmetric: not round or oval
  • B – Blurred: irregular or blurred
  • C – Colour: strongly differing skin pigments
  • D – Diameter: greater than 5mm
  • E – Elevated: newly raised development on a usually flat area
